Director calls for science-led solutions for safer, sustainable and disaster-resilient infrastructure
Roorkee, 15 August 2026: The CSIR-Central Building Research Institute (CSIR-CBRI) celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour at its Roorkee campus. Director Prof. Pradeep Kumar Ramancharla hoisted the National Flag in the presence of scientists, officers, employees and their families.
In his address, Prof. Ramancharla paid tribute to the freedom fighters and extended Independence Day greetings to the institute community. He said Independence was not only a reminder of India’s proud history but also of every citizen’s responsibility to contribute to the nation’s development. He stressed the role of scientific and technical institutions in addressing society’s needs through research and innovation. Referring to CSIR-CBRI’s work in building science and construction technology, he called for sustained efforts to develop safer, sustainable and disaster-resilient infrastructure and to address emerging challenges in the built environment.
Cultural presentations added colour to the celebrations. Children from the CBRI Colony presented a patriotic song, while students of Government Junior High School, Shanti Nagar, and Bal Vidya Mandir performed programmes centred on patriotism and national unity. The audience applauded the performances.
Scientists, officers, employees, family members and children participated in the programme, which was coordinated by the CSIR-CBRI Staff Club and its Executive Committee. The institute community reaffirmed its commitment to freedom, unity, civic responsibility and service to the nation.

निदेशक ने सुरक्षित, टिकाऊ और आपदा-रोधी अवसंरचना के लिए विज्ञान-आधारित समाधानों का आह्वान किया
रुड़की, 15 अगस्त 2026: सीएसआईआर-केंद्रीय भवन अनुसंधान संस्थान (सीएसआईआर-सीबीआरआई) ने अपने रुड़की परिसर में भारत का 80वाँ स्वतंत्रता दिवस देशभक्ति और उत्साह के साथ मनाया। संस्थान के निदेशक प्रो. प्रदीप कुमार रामनचरला ने राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराया। इस अवसर पर वैज्ञानिक, अधिकारी, कर्मचारी और उनके परिवारजन उपस्थित रहे।
अपने संबोधन में प्रो. रामनचरला ने स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों के बलिदान और योगदान को नमन किया तथा संस्थान परिवार को स्वतंत्रता दिवस की शुभकामनाएँ दीं। उन्होंने कहा कि स्वतंत्रता केवल भारत के गौरवशाली इतिहास का स्मरण नहीं कराती, बल्कि प्रत्येक नागरिक को राष्ट्र के विकास में योगदान देने के अपने दायित्व का भी बोध कराती है। उन्होंने समाज की वास्तविक आवश्यकताओं का समाधान अनुसंधान और नवाचार के माध्यम से करने में वैज्ञानिक तथा तकनीकी संस्थानों की भूमिका पर बल दिया। भवन विज्ञान और निर्माण प्रौद्योगिकी में सीएसआईआर-सीबीआरआई के कार्य का उल्लेख करते हुए उन्होंने वैज्ञानिक समुदाय से सुरक्षित, टिकाऊ और आपदा-रोधी अवसंरचना विकसित करने तथा निर्मित परिवेश की उभरती चुनौतियों के समाधान के लिए निरंतर प्रयास करने का आह्वान किया।
समारोह में सांस्कृतिक प्रस्तुतियों ने उत्सव का रंग बढ़ाया। सीबीआरआई कॉलोनी के बच्चों ने देशभक्ति गीत प्रस्तुत किया, जबकि राजकीय जूनियर हाई स्कूल, शांति नगर और बाल विद्या मंदिर के विद्यार्थियों ने देशप्रेम तथा राष्ट्रीय एकता पर केंद्रित कार्यक्रम प्रस्तुत किए। दर्शकों ने इन प्रस्तुतियों की सराहना की।
कार्यक्रम में वैज्ञानिकों, अधिकारियों, कर्मचारियों, उनके परिवारजनों और बच्चों ने उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लिया। आयोजन का समन्वय सीएसआईआर-सीबीआरआई स्टाफ क्लब और उसकी कार्यकारिणी समिति ने किया। समारोह के माध्यम से संस्थान समुदाय ने स्वतंत्रता, एकता, नागरिक दायित्व और राष्ट्रसेवा के मूल्यों के प्रति अपनी प्रतिबद्धता दोहराई।
