सीएसआईआर–सीबीआरआई, रुड़की ने 80वाँ स्थापना दिवस गरिमामय आयोजन के साथ मनाया।
सीएसआईआर–केंद्रीय भवन अनुसंधान संस्थान (सीबीआरआई), रुड़की ने 10 फरवरी 2026 को अपना 80वाँ स्थापना दिवस मनाया। इस अवसर पर संस्थान परिसर स्थित रवींद्रनाथ टैगोर सभागार में आयोजित कार्यक्रम में संस्थान के वैज्ञानिकों, शिक्षाविदों, अधिकारियों, कर्मचारियों और छात्रों ने उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लिया, जहाँ संस्थान की आठ दशकों की यात्रा और राष्ट्रीय विकास में उसके योगदान को रेखांकित किया गया।
इस अवसर पर मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में सीएसआईआर–सीबीआरआई के पूर्व निदेशक डॉ. एन. गोपालकृष्णन तथा विशिष्ट अतिथि के रूप में सीएसआईआर के पूर्व मुख्य लेखा अधिकारी (CoFA) एवं वर्तमान में केंद्रीय विश्वविद्यालय, ओडिशा के वित्त अधिकारी श्री दुर्योधन सेठी उपस्थित रहे। डॉ. एन. गोपालकृष्णन ने अपने संबोधन की शुरुआत में सीबीआरआई तथा इसके वैज्ञानिकों के योगदान की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि संस्थान ने भवन विज्ञान, आपदा न्यूनीकरण और अनुसंधान-आधारित नीति निर्माण के क्षेत्र में उल्लेखनीय कार्य किया है। उन्होंने उच्च हिमालयी क्षेत्रों के लिए विकसित उन्नत मॉडलिंग तकनीकों, हीटिंग टेक्नोलॉजी, भवन सामग्री एवं सीएसआईआर आवास से जुड़े अत्याधुनिक उपकरणों पर किए जा रहे अनुसंधान को विशेष रूप से रेखांकित किया। साथ ही, उन्होंने भू-तकनीकी (जियोटेक्निकल) एवं संरचनात्मक अभियंत्रण के क्षेत्र में सीबीआरआई की विशेषज्ञता की प्रशंसा करते हुए संस्थान के निदेशक के नेतृत्व में स्थापित सुदृढ़ शोध संस्कृति को सराहा और युवा वैज्ञानिकों को नवाचार एवं समाजोपयोगी अनुसंधान की दिशा में कार्य करने के लिए प्रेरित किया। वहीं श्री दुर्योधन सेठी ने अपने संबोधन में सीबीआरआई के बहुआयामी योगदान की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि संस्थान ने भवन निर्माण, आपदा प्रबंधन और प्रौद्योगिकी विकास के क्षेत्र में उल्लेखनीय उपलब्धियाँ हासिल की हैं। उन्होंने वर्षों में सीबीआरआई द्वारा प्राप्त वैज्ञानिक एवं तकनीकी उपलब्धियों, राष्ट्रीय महत्व की परियोजनाओं तथा समाजोपयोगी अनुसंधान को रेखांकित करते हुए संस्थान की सतत प्रगति और निरंतर विकास यात्रा पर प्रकाश डाला। साथ ही, उन्होंने सीबीआरआई की प्रशासनिक दक्षता, वित्तीय पारदर्शिता और सुदृढ़ शोध संस्कृति की प्रशंसा करते हुए इसे संस्थान की मजबूत और विश्वसनीय पहचान का आधार बताया। संस्थान के निदेशक प्रो. आर. प्रदीप कुमार ने अपने संबोधन में सीबीआरआई की आठ दशकों की गौरवशाली यात्रा, प्रमुख अनुसंधान उपलब्धियों तथा राष्ट्रीय विकास में संस्थान के सतत योगदान पर विस्तार से प्रकाश डाला। उन्होंने “विकसित भारत” के संकल्प को साकार करने में सीबीआरआई की भूमिका को रेखांकित करते हुए प्रधानमंत्री की विभिन्न पहल एवं योजनाओं के अनुरूप संस्थान द्वारा किए जा रहे अनुसंधान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी विकास कार्यों की जानकारी दी। उन्होंने सुरक्षित और नवाचारी निर्माण तकनीकों के प्रति संस्थान की प्रतिबद्धता पर जोर देते हुए पर्यावरण-अनुकूल भवन समाधान, संसाधन दक्षता और जलवायु-संवेदनशील अवसंरचना विकास को भविष्य की प्राथमिकताएँ बताया। उन्होंने 3D कंक्रीट प्रिंटिंग, उन्नत निर्माण सामग्री, डिजिटल डिजाइन एवं स्वदेशी तकनीकों के क्षेत्र में सीबीआरआई की आरएंडडी उपलब्धियों को विशेष रूप से रेखांकित किया।
कार्यक्रम को डॉ. डी. पी. कानूंगो, मुख्य वैज्ञानिक, ने संचालित किया ।
कार्यक्रम के दौरान संस्थान के निदेशक एवं मुख्य अतिथियों द्वारा सीबीआरआई के नवीन चिह्न का औपचारिक अनावरण किया गया, जो संस्थान की पहचान, मूल्यों और भविष्योन्मुखी दृष्टिकोण का प्रतीक है। इसके बाद वर्ष 2024 एवं 2025 की सीबीआरआई प्रकाशनों पर आधारित पुस्तकों का विमोचन किया गया। इसके साथ ही सर्वश्रेष्ठ शोध पत्र पुरस्कार प्रदान किए गए तथा वार्षिक खेलकूद एवं अन्य गतिविधियों में उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन करने वाले कर्मचारियों और प्रतिभागियों को सम्मानित किया गया। इसी क्रम में “खानग्पा: द लिविंग हाउस ऑफ लद्दाख” शीर्षक पुस्तक का भी औपचारिक विमोचन किया गया, जिसने समारोह को विशेष महत्व प्रदान किया। समारोह का समापन धन्यवाद ज्ञापन और राष्ट्रगान एवं विशिष्ट अतिथियों को स्मृति-चिह्न (मोमेंटो) प्रदान करने के साथ हुआ। स्थापना दिवस के अवसर पर आयोजित यह कार्यक्रम संस्थान की आठ दशकों की विरासत, उपलब्धियों और भविष्य के प्रति संकल्प को प्रतिबिंबित करता नजर आया।
स्थापना दिवस के अवसर पर आयोजित गतिविधियों के अंतर्गत “क्रायोस्फेरिक आपदाओं में प्रगति: तैयारी और लचीलेपन के लिए सबक” विषय पर एक विशेष वैज्ञानिक कार्यशाला का भी आयोजन किया गया, जिसमें राष्ट्रीय आपदा प्रबंधन प्राधिकरण (एनडीएमए), नई दिल्ली के निदेशक डॉ. ओ. पी. मिश्रा मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित रहे। इस दौरान हिमालयी क्षेत्रों में प्राकृतिक आपदाओं, विशेष रूप से हिमस्खलन और चट्टान-बर्फ (रॉक-आइस) घटनाओं से जुड़े अनुभवों तथा उनसे प्राप्त सबकों पर विस्तार से चर्चा की गई। कार्यशाला में आपदा जोखिम न्यूनीकरण, उद्योगों के साथ संवाद, प्राकृतिक खतरों से निपटने की तैयारी और नवीन तकनीकी समाधानों पर विचार साझा किए गए, जिससे प्रतिभागियों को व्यावहारिक और नीतिगत दृष्टिकोण प्राप्त हुआ। कार्यक्रमों की श्रृंखला में सायंकाल एक सांस्कृतिक संध्या का भी आयोजन किया गया। इस दौरान संस्थान के कर्मचारियों, छात्रों और प्रतिभागियों द्वारा प्रस्तुत सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमों ने दर्शकों का मन मोह लिया। गीत, नृत्य और अन्य प्रस्तुतियों के माध्यम से उत्सव का माहौल और अधिक जीवंत हो गया। प्रतिभागियों की ऊर्जा और कलात्मक अभिव्यक्ति ने समारोह को यादगार बना दिया।
सीएसआईआर–सीबीआरआई का 80वाँ स्थापना दिवस केवल अतीत की उपलब्धियों का उत्सव नहीं रहा, बल्कि यह भविष्य में सुरक्षित, टिकाऊ और आपदा-प्रतिरोधी निर्माण के लिए विज्ञान और अनुसंधान की निरंतर भूमिका को रेखांकित करने वाला अवसर भी बना।

CSIR-Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, celebrated its 80th Foundation Day on February 10, 2026. On this occasion, scientists, academicians, officers, staff, and students of the Institute enthusiastically participated in the Program held at the Rabindranath Tagore Auditorium on the Institute campus, where the Institute’s eight-decade journey and its contribution to national development were highlighted.
On this occasion Dr. N. Gopalakrishnan, former Director of CSIR-CBRI, presented as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Duryodhan Sethi, former Chief Accounts Officer (CoFA) of CSIR and currently Finance Officer of Central University of Odisha, as the Guest of Honour. Dr. N. Gopalakrishnan began his address by praising the contributions of CBRI and its scientists, noting that the Institute has accomplished remarkable work in building science, disaster mitigation, and research-based policymaking. He particularly highlighted research on advanced modeling techniques for the high Himalayan regions, heating technology, building materials, and state-of-the-art equipment for CSIR housing. He also praised CBRI’s expertise in geotechnical and structural engineering. He commended the strong research culture established under the Institute’s Director’s leadership and encouraged young scientists to pursue innovation and socially relevant research. In his address, Mr. Duryodhan Sethi lauded CBRI’s multifaceted contributions, noting that the Institute has achieved remarkable accomplishments in building construction, disaster management, and technology development. He highlighted CBRI’s scientific and technological achievements over the years, its projects of national importance, and its societal relevance, underscoring the Institute’s continuous progress and development. He also praised CBRI’s administrative efficiency, financial transparency, and robust research culture, describing these as the foundation of the Institute’s strong and credible reputation. Following this, Institute Director, Prof. R. Pradeep Kumar, in his address, elaborated on CBRI’s glorious eight-decade journey, significant research achievements, and the Institute’s continued contribution to national development. Highlighting CBRI’s role in realizing the vision of a “developed India,” he briefed the Institute on its research and technology development efforts in line with the Prime Minister’s various initiatives and schemes. Emphasizing the Institute’s commitment to safe and innovative construction technologies, he identified environmentally friendly building solutions, resource efficiency, and climate-sensitive infrastructure development as future priorities. He particularly highlighted CBRI’s R&D achievements in 3D concrete printing, advanced building materials, digital design, and indigenous technologies.
The Program was coordinated by Dr. D. P. Kanungo, Chief Scientist, and chairman of the foundation committee.
During the event, the Director and Chief Guests formally unveiled the new CBRI logo, symbolizing the Institute’s identity, values, and forward-looking vision. This was followed by the release of books based on CBRI publications for the years 2024 and 2025. Best Research Paper Awards were presented, and staff and participants who excelled in the annual sports and other activities were honored. The book titled “Khangpa: The Living House of Ladakh” was also formally released, adding special significance to the event. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks, the National Anthem, and the presentation of mementos to distinguished guests. The Foundation Day event reflected the Institute’s eight-decade legacy, achievements, and commitment to the future.
Foundation Day activities included a special scientific workshop on “Advances in Cryospheric Disasters: Lessons for Preparedness and Resilience,” chaired by Dr. O.K. P. Mishra, the chief guest. Experiences and lessons learned from natural disasters in the Himalayan region, particularly avalanches and rock-ice events, were discussed in detail. The workshop shared insights on disaster risk reduction, industry engagement, natural hazard preparedness, and innovative technological solutions, providing participants with practical and policy perspectives. A cultural evening was also organized. Cultural performances presented by the Institute’s staff, students, and participants captivated the audience. Songs, dances, and other performances further enlivened the festive atmosphere. The participants’ energy and artistic expression made the event memorable.
The 80th Foundation Day of CSIR-CBRI was not just a celebration of past achievements, but also a commitment to a safe, sustainable, and disaster-resilient future.
